George McLain is a partner and a founding member of the firm.  Mr. McLain specializes in civil trial law, and has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Florida Bar since the inception of the program in 1983.  Board Certification is the highest level of evaluation of an attorney’s experience and expertise offered by the Florida Bar.  Only seven percent of eligible members of the Florida Bar are Board Certified, and of those less than 25% are certified in the area of civil trial law.  Mr. McLain has also been awarded an AV Preeminent rating – the highest possible – by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. McLain has over 40 years of experience.  He is a Sarasota native, and has practiced in Sarasota since 1972.  Mr. McLain is a member of the Florida Bar, the State Bar of California (inactive), Sarasota County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Florida Justice Association (Director of Worker's Compensation Section, 1982-1983), and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He currently holds the office of President of the Sarasota/Manatee Chapter of the Florida Board of Trial Advocates.

Mr. McLain attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in 1966. He then attended the University of Miami School of Law and received his J.D. in 1969. Before commencing private practice in Sarasota, Mr. McLain served as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate with the United States Air Force from 1969-1972, with the rank of Captain. He was admitted to the Florida bar in 1969 and to the California bar and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in 1972.

Mr. McLain is active in the community. He has been a member of the Sertoma Club of Greater Sarasota since 1972, having served two terms as President. He has also served as President of the Sarasota Boys Choir and the Sarasota Concert Band. He has held many positions in his church, including Deacon (Chairman and Vice-Chairman), Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, and Music Leader. He has performed as a vocalist with the Sarasota Players, numerous churches, special public theatrical productions including the annual Sarasota Christmas Pageant, and various local dance and jazz bands. He presently plays tenor saxophone with the Sarasota Concert Band, Sarasota Baptist Church Orchestra, and Sarasota Jazz Ensemble.
